Boldrocchi De Cardenas

Today Boldrocchi spans over a wide range of fan types, used in all industrial applications.

The growing importance of these machines marked the steps of a continuous and quick technical evolution, to which Boldrocchi has perfectly adapted in terms of design and manufacturing capabilities.

For instance, with the recent acquisition of the technical and production knowhow of Aeroto, De Cardenas and Marelli Ventilation Companies, Boldrocchi became an outstanding supplier, not only in Europe, in the heavy duty fans field.

Since 1997 De Cardenas Ventilazione represents a Boldrocchi independent division that is specialized in designing and manufacturing:

- Heavy-duty industrial fans, for air and gas processing
- Turbogas auxiliary components, in particular “Diverter”, by-pass valves for exhaust gas, and hot gas discharge silenced stocks.

De Cardenas started manufacturing fans for the industry business in 1927. Since then thousands of machines have been operating in Italy and worldwide in the power plants, in the iron and steel marking, cement, chemical, pollution control and incineration industries. In the last twenty years there has been a remarkable increase in the size and power absorption of the fans and therefore also of their mechanical stress. De Cardenans kept up with this continuous technical evolution and in 1994 another important step for its development was represented by the acquisition of Marelli Heavy-Duty ventilation.

Over 50% of the main boiler fans installed by Enel are manufactured by Marelli and De Cardenas.

De Cardenas Ventilazione has its own factory located in Arcore, which is 25 km north from Milano and 7 km from the Boldrocchi headquarter in Biassono. The factory covers an area of 30,000 sqm, of which 8,000 covered by the production departments and 2,000 by the business offices, the engineering and service structures. Technical staff know-how has been achieved from over a century of business experience and international cooperation of Marelli, in fan business since 1891. The workshop designed and built for fan manufacturing and for mechanical component assembly has lately added Marelli’s special equipment for heavy-duty fan production.

FAN TEST RIG

The performance test room of De Cardenas Ventilazione is today the best equipped in Italy. In it you can check the characteristic curves on experimental prototypes and also on job fans. Centrifugal fans with installed power above 6,000 KW have been tested here at reduced r.p.m. A 1200 KW diesel generator feeds the variable speed A.C. or D.C. drives. It is provided with:

- Variable frequency generator, 0÷60 Hz, 1000 KW and induction motors with power capacity up to 1000 KW
- D.C. motors with power capacity up to 600 KW, supplied with static rectifiers for continuous speed regulation

Severe designing and interfacing procedures, manufacturing and testing in compliance with the ISO 9001 Quality System Certification, allows De Cardenas Ventilazione to satisfy the requests of the market for fans with tip speeds above 250 m/s and absorbed up to 10,000 KW.
